  6. The W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List (c)
  7. -----------------------------------
  8. The W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List is a monthly publication which we began
  9. publishing in March 1980.  It is in broadsheet format (large newspaper) and
  10. contains the most current 5000 QSL Manager routes.  Editor: Jan O'Brien,
  11. K6HHD.

  13. Cost: US $25/yr. VE/XE $32/yr.  Overseas Airmail $38/yr.  Includes direct
  14. addresses, the Editor's comments on happenings of the month and the O'Brien
  15. DX/Animal farm, the SHOW/GO PacketCluster column by W6GO, and tips for
  16. QSLing.

  18. PC-GO (c)
  19. ---------
  20. PC-GO is a Computerized database system which is available ONLY to
  21. W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List subscribers.  Including nearly 10,000 inactive
  22. QSL routes ("QSLOLD") which are not printed in the current publication,
  23. this puts over 15,000 QSL routes onto a subscriber's IBM compatible PC for
  24. instant lookup.  The "PCDB" program used for database access also allows
  25. users to install PacketCluster databases for local lookup, including the
  26. 10-10 database, IRC data, Contest information, QSL Bureau addresses,
  27. Russian Oblast data, the complete FCC Part 97, and even a study guide for
  28. the Extra class exam.
  29.  
  30. Several logging programs have provisions for accessing PC-GO from within
  31. the logging program, and DXBase (tm) has provisions for an automatic lookup
  32. in PC-GO.
  33.  
  34. Cost: Initial installation $21/US, $23/Outside US, includes PCDB and other
  35. databases.  Subsequent updates (available each month to subscribers) cost
  36. $6/US, $8/Outside US.  PC-GO orders must be accompanied by a signed
  37. Copyright agreement (a coupon is printed in the list) which agrees that the
  38. data is copyrighted and will only be used by the ordering subscriber.  PC-
  39. GO is usually furnished on 360k diskettes.

  41. If a copy of the coupon is not available, subscribers to the W6GO/K6HHD QSL
  42. Manager list may send and sign the following statement to obtain PC-GO:

  44. "I understand that PC-GO and QSLOLD are Copyrighted files.  I am ordering
  45. them for my own exclusive use.  I will not copy the files or data contained
  46. therein on any media for the use or benefit of anyone other than myself.  I
  47. am a W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager list subscriber."

  50. DX-BBS (c)
  51. ----------
  52. DX-BBS is a telephone bulletin board system operated by W6GO/K6HHD for the
  53. Amateur DX community.  Anyone may call, send and receive mail and exchange
  54. files.  Many shareware and DX related files are available on DX-BBS,
  55. including the latest version of K1EA's CT program.  To obtain more daily
  56. download time and to support DX-BBS, subscriptions to DX-BBS are available
  57. at $20/yr.  DX-BBS subscribers who have obtained PC-GO and are also
  58. subscribers to the W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List may request their PC-GO
  59. updates to be placed on DX-BBS for their download in place of the $6 or $8
  60. cost for a mailed PC-GO update diskette.

  63. SHOW/GO (c)
  64. -----------
  65. SHOW/GO is the monthly PacketCluster column written by W6GO which appears
  66. on page 4 of the W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List.
  67.  
  68. SHOW/GO is also a special command available on PacketCluster nodes who
  69. carry GOQSL which is slightly shorter than the normal "SHOW/QSL".  SHOW/GO
  70. on PacketCluster is only publicized to W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List
  71. subscribers.  A QSL route lookup using SH/QSL is followed by a line which
  72. says "Type SH/QSL SUBS for a list of those who provide this data for you.",
  73. while a lookup of the same route using SH/GO does not send that line to the
  74. user.  This saves a small amount of time over the air for our subscribers
  75. who use SH/GO rather than SH/QSL.

  78. GOQSL (c)
  79. ---------
  80. GOQSL is the name given to the PC-GO (see above) QSL database system when
  81. it is installed on PacketCluster nodes to provide access to the W6GO/K6HHD
  82. QSL Manager List over the air via the PacketCluster system.  PacketCluster
  83. SYSOPs  exchange data via DX-BBS with W6GO and/or send SASE disks each
  84. month to W6GO to take advantage of this service.  Presently, there is no
  85. charge made to the SYSOPs who take part, although the participating SYSOPs
  86. must be subscribers to The W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List.
  87.  
  88. Participating GOQSL SYSOPs have signed a Copyright agreement which states
  89. their agreement to not further distribute the data except by placing it on
  90. their PacketCluster nodes.  GOQSL is also the name of the command file
  91. which executes the QSL system on the serving node.
  92.  
  93. GOQSL makes provisions for local QSL lookup databases and for user
  94. participation through UPDATE/QSLNEW which allows users to input new QSL
  95. information later included in future GOQSL files to all nodes.
  96.  
  97. GOQSL "serving nodes" often also have "remote nodes" who access the data on
  98. the serving node.  Those "remote nodes" often are provided GODISK files by
  99. the serving node and may also obtain direct GODISK information.
  100.  
  101. GOQSL is supported by the subscribers to the W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List
  102. and is placed on the PacketCluster nodes for their benefit.  No attempt is
  103. made to restrict access over the air so that just subscribers may benefit,
  104. as W6GO feels that this would not follow the non-commercial doctrine of
  105. Amateur Radio.  GOQSL is provided monthly to GOQSL serving nodes, along
  106. with GODISK.

  109. GODISK (c)
  110. ----------
  111. GODISK is the collection of files and data prepared each month by W6GO
  112. (other than GOQSL) and sent either via disk or via DX-BBS to participating
  113. PacketCluster SYSOPs.  This includes a W6GO letter, correspondence from and
  114. to SYSOPs, databases, other files and data of interest to PacketCluster
  115. SYSOPs.  GODISK is available to all SYSOPs who send a SASE disk or connect
  116. to DX-BBS.  "GODISK" is also the name of a command file used to extract QSL
  117. data at PacketCluster nodes who participate in GOQSL.

  120. GONEW (c)
  121. ---------
  122. GONEW is the batch file process which is used by GOQSL Serving nodes to
  123. install the new information each month.

  126. FILES MAILED ON DISKS
  127. ---------------------
  128. Files on DX-BBS will be provided on disk at a cost of $6 (US) or $8 (non-
  129. US).  360K, 5.25" disks are provided.  The files desired must be specified.
  130. The latest available version of a file will be provided.  Request
  131. PCBFILES.ZIP and UNZIP.EXE ($6 or $8 for disk, see above) to obtain a full
  132. list of available DX-BBS files.

  134. Add $1 for each additional disk mailed at the same time.

  136. Add $1 for each disk of formats other than 360K.  1.2Mb (5.25"), 720K
  137. (3.5") and 1.44Mb(3.5") disks are available.

  140. PCDB
  141. ----
  142. PCDB is the database reader used by PC-GO.  It is available for a
  143. registration fee of $15 plus the disk ($6/US, $8/non-US).  It will be
  144. furnished on a 360k 5.25" disk.

  147. CALLBOOKS
  148. ---------
  149. As a service to our US subscribers, we have sold Radio Amateur Callbook
  150. sets each year.  The price (set each year) includes the North American
  151. Callbook, the International Callbook, a sturdy box and shipping via UPS.
  152. We usually take orders in October and November and ship about the first of
  153. December.  We also sell the supplement which is mailed in June.

  158. Of course, checks (on US Banks) are preferred.  However, we have obtained
  159. authorization from our bank to accept bank card charges.  We now accept
  160. Visa, Master Charge (include issuing bank info), Carte Blanche, Diner's
  161. Club International, and JCB (JCB payments must be in USD).
